Spirulina Berry Smoothie

This is a great way for anyone to start their day. Chocked full of good protein and fats. Plus, I add some hydrolyzed gelatin to help keep my arthritis at bay and to support my young athlete's joints.

It’s critical to make sure that you purchase only the highest quality of spirulina. Purchase it from a reputable health food store and be prepared to spend a chunk of cash – about $40 for 150 grams.

Directions

1Makes 2 Large Smoothies

2Place all ingredients in a high speed blender and blend.

Ingredients

2 cups frozen berries

small handful of walnuts, almonds, or cashews

1 small banana

2 tablespoons coconut oil

1 tablespoon hydrolyzed gelatin (optional)

2 teaspoons Spirulina (if you're new to Spirulina, start with a tiny bit - 1/2 teaspoon and slowly build)

1-1/2 cup filtered water
