Cilantro or Basil Pesto

Check out this yummy detoxing/energy boosting recipe.  If using cilantro it helps to reduce the buildup of metals like mercury in the body.  Garlic contains sulfur which helps your liver detoxify itself of heavy metals like lead and arsenic. Nutritional yeast is one of the best food sources of energy boosting B Vitamins.

If using basil, you will benefit from plant compounds that have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and other health properties

Good quality parmesan cheese, "Parmigiano-Reggiano" is lactose free, easily digested, rich in calcium and even contains probiotics - to nurture your gut microbiota!

Serving Suggestions:
1. Toss with some good quality organic pasta
2. Drop a dollop into some creamed soup
3. Drizzle over grilled chicken or fish

Directions

1Place all ingredients in food processor and blend until well-combined, but not totally smooth.

Ingredients

1 bunch cilantro or basil

2 cloves garlic (more if you like)

1 ½ ounces cashews or almonds (soak for an hour or so to enhance digestibility)

¼ cup organic extra virgin olive oil

2 tablespoons nutritional yeast or 1/4 cup good quality parmesan cheese (Parmigiano-Reggiano)

pinch of salt
