Turmeric Elixir

I make this regularly for family and friends when they're dealing with a cold, flu, bronchitis...  It is flavourful, yet soothing. 

Benefits:

Turmeric  - Reduces inflammation.
Ginger - Anti-inflammatory and Anti-Oxidant Effects
Thyme - Antibacterial and immunity enhancement – helps treat acute bronchitis 
Cloves - Excellent source of polyphenols that help to regulate immune function
Cinnamon - Antioxidant, anti-inflammatory,
Black pepper - Boosts nutrient absorption
Lemon - Liver supportive, Vitamin C with bioflavanoids
Unpasteurized honey -  Antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory

Directions

1Place all ingredients (except honey) into saucepan and bring to a boil.  Reduce heat and simmer over low heat with lid on for an hour or two. 

2Pour into cups and add honey to taste.

Ingredients

2 cups filtered water

1 thumb size pieces of fresh turmeric or 1 teaspoon turmeric powder

2 thumb size pieces of fresh ginger

4-6 sprigs fresh thyme or 2 teaspoons dried

6 whole cloves

Stick of cinnamon

4 whole black peppercorns

1 lemon cut into four pieces

Unpasteurized honey
